Annual
Subject type:
Compulsory
Module:

1. General information
Pharmacology:
Specific objectives:
To know the general principles of pharmacology; To provide students with the necessary knowledge to understand the scientific bases that explain the actions-effects of specific pharmacological groups (dietary-pharmacological treatment); To assess drug-nutrient interactions: to know the influence of food and pharmacological guidelines.
Clinical Nutrition:
To provide the student with the knowledge of the nutritional assessment of the patient in its preventive and therapeutic aspects. Specific objectives are: 1.- Nutritional assessment 2.- Diagnosis of nutritional disease. 3.- To know the different techniques and products of basic and advanced nutritional support. 4.-To use the indications for artificial nutrition.
"These approaches and objectives are aligned with the SDGs of the United Nations 2030 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), providing training and competence to contribute to their achievement."
- Objectives : Health and Wellness. Quality Education.
2. Learning results
Pharmacology:
1. To know the transit of the drug through the organism and its mechanism of action.
2. To understand the relevance of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and modifications in the
pharmacological response secondary to drug-drug and drug-nutrient associations.
3. To know the specific pharmacological groups used in the treatment of different pathologies, valuing special situations of the patient and the influence of nutrition.
4. To assess the influence of diet and nutritional status on the efficacy and safety of the pharmacological
response, as well as the influence of drugs on nutrient utilization and nutritional status
5. To promote the rational use of medicines (the problem of self-medication) and the relationship between
benefit/risk in pharmacological treatment.
6. Adequate assessment of pharmacological information in the field of drug-nutrient interaction.
Clinical Nutrition
1. Evaluate and calculate nutritional requirements in a disease situation.
2. Plan, perform and interpret the assessment of the nutritional status of sick subjects.
3. Know the different techniques and products of basic and advanced nutritional support.
4. Understand clinical pharmacology and drug-nutrient interactions.
5. Manage the basic ICT tools used in the field of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics.
6. Prescribe specific treatment, corresponding to the scope of competence of the dietitian-nutritionist.
7. Know the health activities in nutritional sciences carried out in health centres.
8. Participate in the multidisciplinary team of a Hospital Nutrition Unit.
9. Be able to base the scientific principles that support the intervention of the dietitian-nutritionist, subjecting their professional performance to scientific evidence
10. Know the special circumstances of disease and nutrition in geriatrics.

Pharmacology:
FACE-TO-FACE MODEL: Continuous assessment
Theory: Individual written test (multiple choice or short answer): 75% of the final grade; Practices: Individual works. 15%. Seminar work: 10% (25% of the final grade). Each of the parts must be passed separately with a minimum of 5 points
NON FACE-TO-FACE MODEL: global evaluation test: Individual written test (multiple choice or short answer) (theoretical and practical contents). The test will be taken in person or online (ADD) and will account for 75% of the final grade . Individual work and presentation: 25% .
Clinical Nutrition:
Theoretical part: Individual written test (multiple choice or short answer) to be announced at the beginning of the term and represents 80% of the final grade
Practical part: Individual work: 5%. Presentation of cases in small groups: 15% of the final grade.
The two parts must be passed independently. The final grade will be the average of both parts of the subject
